#NatSecGirlSquad builds competent diversity in national security and defense. Founded in 2014, #NatSecGirlSquad intentionally connects more than 40,000 people, to strengthen expertise, confidence in that expertise, and to enable repeatable, scalable impact.
#NatSecGirlSquad is funded entirely by membership dues. Its annual conference #NSGSCon is the one opportunity each year employers have to financially engage at the institutional level.

#NatSecGirlSquad does not just plan and host professional development, community building , and training opportunities - in serves as a toolkit for members to bring their own ideas to life.
#NatSecGirlSquad Working Groups (WGs) are member-led initiatives that generate thought leadership, facilitate professional development and continuing education, and build intentional community within a specific focus area. WGs aim to expand #NatSecGirlSquad capabilities and offerings while reducing operational and administrative burdens and costs and fundamentally alter how members of the community manage their professional lives.
Micro-certifications or ‘micro-certs,’ are medium-length courses focused on a specific skill or subject area. To date, #NatSecGirlSquad micro-certifications include ‘Organizational Operations,’ ‘Public Affairs and Media Relations for National Security Professionals,’ US-Mexico Relations,’ and two separate but simultaneous experience-level-organized ‘Counterterrorism’ programs.
Each year, #NatSecGirlSquad comes together online and in-person for a multiday annual conference. In addition to jam packed agendas, free childcare, #NSGSCon is the largest career fair of its kind in the world.
